The Tennessee Titans finally added to their win column last week, improving their record to 2-11 with a victory over the Cleveland Browns.

This week, they hit the road again to pay a visit to the San Francisco 49ers. The game is scheduled for Sunday at 3:25 CST/4:25 EST on FOX.

History

The Titans and 49ers have played each other 15 times in franchise history. The 49ers lead the all-time series, 9-6. The last time these teams faced off was in 2021, in which the Titans prevailed, 20-17. The last time the Titans traveled to San Francisco was in 2017, a contest in which they lost, 23-25.

Titans out of the basement

The Titans exploded for 31 points last week. This was enough for them to move from last (32nd) in the league in points to — drumroll please — 31st in points. This was their most points scored in a game since 2021.

49ers middle of pack

The 49ers’ offense has still been middle-of-the-road this season. Frankly, this is just a testament to Shanahan’s offensive system and his coaching staff. It has been good enough to get by with a mediocre receiving core, quarterback, and offensive line on paper. This is especially true with Brandon Aiyuk missing the season.

49ers better on D

The 49ers’ defense is a ridiculous eighth in points allowed this season. They have been missing their crucial star linebacker for the majority of the season, Fred Warner, yet this team still gets things done. Major praise has to be given to Robert Saleh and this young and developing defense.

Playoff implications

The 49ers have a lot at stake as they look to finish out their season. They are in a tight division and playoff race. They are even in contention for the No. 1 seed in the conference if things fall just right for the franchise. They can’t afford to slip in such a tight NFC playoff race. They need to stay focused and win out.

49ers are NFL’s most-injured

The 49ers have been the most affected by injuries this season. Brandon Aiyuk, Nick Bosa, George Kittle, Fred Warner, Ben Bartch, Brock Purdy, and Ricky Pearsall have all missed time. All these players have missed time while projected as starters. As a result, Christian McCaffrey has been under a lot of stress this year, and there are valid concerns about him given his injury history.
