Ben Johnson if he expects to get Kyler Gordon back this season:
“To be determined … Coming out of that one, he didn’t look really good.”

Before the Chicago Bears even took the field against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday, they were already down when cornerback Kyler Gordon suffered a groin injury in warmups that prevented him from playing. The Bears did their best without their dynamic nickel corner but ultimately fell 28-21 to end their five-game winning streak. Gordon was expected to play a significant role against quarterback Jordan Love and the Packers offense. Now, there are questions as to whether or not he will play again this season.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson addressed the media on Wednesday before practice and was asked about Gordon’s availability going forward. “To be determined,” he said. “I haven’t heard over the last couple of days the extent of [the injury], but coming out of that one, it didn’t look very good.”
The Bears have excelled this season with a 9-4 record and are in prime position to make the postseason for the first time since 2020. They’ve done it without Gordon, who has struggled to stay on the field. This is his third lower body injury that he suffered during practice or warmups, and the rest of his season is in jeopardy.
Gordon, who signed a three-year extension worth $31 million guaranteed, has played in just three games in 2025. He suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out of the first four games of the season. After returning for a pair of contests, Gordon was shelved with groin and calf injuries for another five weeks. And now he’s dealing with another groin injury after returning for one game. In three games, Gordon has totaled seven tackles, one for loss, and a fumble recovery.
With Gordon likely out for multiple games, the Bears will continue to rely on veteran cornerback CJ Gardner-Johnson, who has made impactful plays ever since signing back in October but is coming off a rough game in which he allowed multiple big plays against the Packers.
