Isaiah Bolden’s comeback story continues in a new chapter with the 49ers.
San Francisco signed the cornerback to the team’s practice squad Wednesday. Bolden, who was released by the New England Patriots practice squad in preseason, has not appeared in a game since Week 18 of the 2024 NFL season.
Bolden was drafted by New England in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He suffered a severe head injury in a 2023 preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, leading him to be stretchered off the field and hospitalized overnight.
The Patriots placed Bolden on injured reserve for the rest of the 2023 season. He rejoined the team on the practice squad in 2024, later being elevated to the active roster in Week 4 to make his NFL debut against the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.
Bolden played the rest of the season with the Patriots, registering 10 total tackles in 14 games played. The 25-year-old played just 15.3 percent of defensive snaps for New England but served as a special teams contributor as well.
Bolden played college football with Florida State and Jackson State before making the leap to the NFL.
The cornerback has not been on a practice squad since his Aug. 22 release by New England.
