When a Hall of Famer speaks, people listen—especially when it’s about your quarterback.
Kurt Warner, a Super Bowl champion and NFL icon, had no shortage of praise for former Colorado Buffaloes star Shedeur Sanders during a recent interview on The Jim Rome Show. And Buffaloes fans should take note: Warner didn’t just compliment Sanders—he emphatically questioned why one of the most productive passers in college football fell all the way to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

“My evaluation was the most accurate quarterback I thought in this draft,” Warner said. “When he sets his feet, when he’s comfortable in the pocket… the ball goes where he wants it to go.”
Despite throwing for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns in his final season under Coach Prime, Sanders’ name wasn’t called until Day 3. That’s not sitting right with Warner, who knows a thing or two about being underestimated—he famously went undrafted before carving out a Hall of Fame career.
“Shedeur was asked to win football games,” Warner added. “That can’t be overstated… throw the ball every single week for your team to be successful.”

Sanders often had to do just that for the Buffs. Colorado’s offensive line allowed 43 sacks in 2024—yet Shedeur still managed to complete 74% of his passes and break multiple school records. Warner believes that with an NFL-caliber line and improved comfort, Sanders’ pinpoint accuracy could shine even brighter.

“You give him a good offensive line… does he make more decisions on time and use that accuracy?” Warner asked. “I really like Shedeur. He wasn’t a fifth-round prospect in my opinion.”
As Sanders prepares for his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns, this endorsement from a legend like Warner should fire up Buffs fans—and maybe even make a few NFL GMs second-guess their evaluations.

Buffs Nation, the NFL might’ve overlooked him, but you shouldn’t. Shedeur Sanders is built for Sundays—and the proof is just getting started.
