KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Jermod McCoy’s Tennessee career has come to an end.
After a 2024 campaign that saw the defensive back earn All-American honors, McCoy was unable to take the field in 2025 after suffering a torn ACL during an offseason training session.
McCoy helped lead Tennessee to the 2024 College Football Playoff after transferring from Oregon State, making 44 tackles and four interceptions for a Volunteer squad that finished the year 10-3.
The Whitehouse, Texas native was named an Associated Press 2nd Team All-American in addition to earning first team All-SEC honors from the AP.
Numerous outlets named McCoy a preseason All-American ahead of the 2025 season. ESPN rated him the 31st-best player in college football for the 2025 season, regardless of position.
McCoy released a statement via social media on Dec. 10, saying in part, “I will be forever grateful for my time here at the University of Tennessee. It has been a true honor, and I’m appreciative for every moment I had in the orange and white.”
ESPN ranks McCoy as the second-best cornerback prospect in next year’s NFL Draft. He is a projected first-round pick by CBS Sports, Pro Football Focus, USA Today Sports, and ESPN.
