WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. — Sherrone Moore was arrested after the University of Michigan announced he was fired as the Wolverines’ head football coach, according to Washtenaw County Jail records.

Moore was found and detained in Saline, Mich.

He was then turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for an investigation into potential charges, according to ESPN reporter Dan Wetzel.

News Channel 3 has reached out to the City of Saline and Pittsfield Township Police Departments for further confirmation, but has not heard back.

Moore has listing for charges, bond or a next court date, according to the Washtenaw County Jail.

Moore’s firing was announced Wednesday after he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, according to the University of Michigan’s Athletic Director Warde Manuel.

His termination was effective immediately.

“Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior,” Manuel said in a statement.

Biff Poggi, the football team’s associate head coach, has been appointed the interim head coach.
