McBride can set a record this weekend.

The accomplishments continue to build for Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride.

We already know that he is currently tied with Travis Kelce for the most consecutive games with at least five receptions by a tight end, with 15.

Kelce did it in 2018, while McBride’s 15 have come over the last two seasons. With five receptions Sunday against the Houston Texans, McBride will have that record all to himself.

If he can reach five in the next three games, that will give him 16 straight this season, which will eclipse Kelce’s single-season record.

McBride is also on the verge of another milestone. After catching 111 passes in 2024, he now has 93 with four games remaining this season. If he reaches 100 again, McBride will become the first tight end in NFL history to register two consecutive 100-reception seasons.

Kelce has hit the 100-catch barrier three times in his career, but never in consecutive seasons.

How quick we forget

There are only three quarterbacks in NFL history who have completed at least 700 passes in their first two seasons, and Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos is 27 away from joining the list.

With four games remaining, Nix won’t catch the leader, Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, who had 839 completions in his first two seasons.

However, the next two are within reach and one of them is Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who had 724. He currently has 51 more than Nix, while Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars had 746 and is 73 ahead of Nix.

Just behind Murray are Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders with 698 and Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts with 682.
