In a fleury of practice squad moves, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed an offensive tackle and released a veteran running back ahead of Week 15’s Monday Night Football game versus the Miami Dolphins.
On Wednesday, the Steelers signed former Ravens OT David Sharpe to their practice squad and subsequently released RB Trey Sermon. Sharpe visited with Pittsburgh last Friday before the Week 14 matchup against Baltimore but will now join the Black and Gold.

Sharpe’s arrival couldn’t have come at a better time, as offensive tackle Broderick Jones’ season-ending neck injury, offensive tackle Andrus Peat’s concussion he suffered last Sunday, and offensive tackle Calvin Anderson’s placement on injured reserve leave Pittsburgh with more questions than answers at the left tackle position.
If Peat can’t suit up for Week 15 action against Miami, Sharpe will likely be elevated off the practice squad to back up offensive tackle Dylan Cook, who could receive his first starting opportunity on Monday.
