After a second day of practice for the unretired, 44-year-old Philip Rivers for the Indianapolis Colts, it appears as if he’s inching toward starting this weekend in Seattle against the 10-3 Seahawks.
No, this is not a movie; it’s just Philip Rivers’ life.
Stephen Holder, the Colts reporter for ESPN, is in Indy and has watched practice for the past two days as Rivers has shaken off the five-year rust to try and get himself in playing shape for Sunday’s pivotal game.
After starting 7-1, the Colts’ season has taken a nosedive, as they now sit at 8-5 and are on the verge of falling out of playoff contention if their losing ways continue.
“Two days in now, and my time in the building this week has left me only MORE convinced Philip Rivers is this week’s starting quarterback,” Holder reported on social media. “It isn’t difficult to tell who a team is prepping to start. That player is Rivers. Period.”

If Rivers plays, the father of 10 children and grandfather of one, will be given an instant test against one of the league’s most ferocious defenses.
Currently in eighth place in the AFC, a win against the Seahawks would raise their playoff chances to 52% with three weeks remaining. A loss and the Indianapolis Colts would have a 24% chance of making the postseason with a pre-Christmas game against the San Francisco 49ers on the docket.
