Mike McCarthy is in the mix for the Titans’ head coaching job.
The former Cowboys and Packers head coach is “viewed by some as an early front-runner for the Titans’ vacancy,” according to Sports Illustrated’s Connor Orr.
McCarthy’s experience developing quarterbacks, Orr wrote, could help Tennessee “maximize 2025 No. 1 pick Cam Ward.”

It appears that Titans brass is split on McCarthy as a potential candidate, though.
“There are some conflicting opinions emerging that Tennessee may value a younger voice in the building,” Orr added.
The Titans are two months into a coaching search after firing Brian Callahan in mid-October following a 1-5 start to the season.
Callahan was in just his second season with the Titans and finished his tenure with a 4-19 record.
Mike McCoy, a former Chargers head coach, has served as the interim head coach for Tennessee since the move.
The Titans’ season hasn’t gotten much better since parting ways with Callahan, going 1-6 post-firing to fall to 2-11 on the season heading into Week 15.

McCarthy is reportedly looking to get back into the NFL after departing the Cowboys in January when the two sides could not reach an agreement on a long-term contract.
In five seasons as the Dallas head coach, McCarthy’s Cowboys amassed a record of 49-35, making the playoffs three times.
As coach of the Packers from 2006-18, McCarthy went 204-125 and won the 2011 Super Bowl.
Since the Giants fired Brian Daboll last month, McCarthy’s name has been floated as a possible candidate for the job.
McCarthy raved about Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, saying the Ole Miss product has an “extremely bright future” in the league.
