If anyone can understand what Philip Rivers is doing, it’s Tom Brady.
Brady, the all-time great quarterback, retired after 20 seasons with the New England Patriots following the 2019 season, only to quickly return and play three more seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He added a seventh Super Bowl championship along the way.

After five years away from the NFL, Rivers is back with the Indianapolis Colts. His first possible appearance comes Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
Brady’s response starts with a joke: “Who retires, then unretires, and ultimately retires again. Who does that? It’s ridiculous,” he said on “The Herd.”
“Good for him. I’m happy he’s doing it,” he added. “I’m very excited to watch Philip play, because if he’s out there, it’s really cool. It speaks to how much he loves the game.”
Brady acknowledged concerns about timing with receivers and taking hits for the first time since the 2020 season, but he believes the 44-year-old Rivers has a chance to succeed.

“This game, for the quarterback, is about the neck up,” Brady said. “The mental is to the physical is as four is to one at the quarterback position.”
The 48-year-old who retired for a second time after the 2022 season is now part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and an NFL game analyst for Fox.
