TEMPE — Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will miss his fourth game of the season this week when the Arizona Cardinals take on the Houston Texans on Sunday.

With the wideout still dealing with a heel issue picked up in Week 13’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon ruled him out ahead of Friday’s practice.

Gannon also said left tackle Paris Johnson Jr., safety Rabbit Taylor-Demerson, cornerback Max Melton and safety Jalen Thompson are all out this week.

After a rocky rookie season, it’s been much of the same for Harrison in a Year 2 filled with heightened expectations. In 10 games played this season, Harrison has caught 40 of his 69 targets for 594 yards and four touchdowns.

He has yet to put up a 100-yard game in 2025 and will have three more games to do so before the offseason takes hold.

Marvin Harrison Jr. out, Michael Wilson in as WR1

Harrison going down takes away another option for quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

It also opens up the door for Michael Wilson to continue his tear as Arizona’s WR1.

In the three games Wilson has stepped into the role, he’s made the most of the opportunities behind 36 catches (49 targets) for 445 yards and two touchdowns.

His explosion in recent weeks has him just 288 yards away from hitting the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career as the 2023 third-round pick continues to develop a strong connection with Brissett.

“He has no fear. I don’t think I’ve said that yet.”

“He’ll catch it no matter where it’s at,” Brissett said Wednesday. “I try to come up with new things when everybody asks me about Mike and what I have learned about him or respect about his game or what has shocked me. I’m running out of things just because every week is a testament to who he is as a person and the work that he does. He has no fear. I don’t think I said that yet, so that’s new. I hope he does, but it seems like he has complete trust in me, and I can see that.

“I just can feel it in this route, his intent when he’s breaking open and getting his eyes back to the quarterback, he’s catching it. I think that’s the confidence that he instills in me based on who he is as a person, the work I see him put in and his willingness to be vulnerable with me.”

Wilson and Brissett, plus tight end Trey McBride, will need to be in lockstep throughout Sunday’s tilt against a Texans defense currently pacing the league in yards (266.3) and points (16) allowed per game.
