Jalen Hurts’ Philadelphia Eagles suffered a gut-wrenching 22-19 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday. The NFC East team forced overtime with a 10-point fourth quarter, but they didn’t carry the magic into the extra time.

The Chargers won thanks to a 54-yard field goal from Cameron Dicker with 6:24 left. The Eagles had a chance to tie or win the game the following drive, but a crucial mistake from Hurt ruined their plans. The Super Bowl LIX MVP threw a pass at wide receiver Jahan Dotson, but it was picked off, ending the game.

During his Wednesday availability, Hurts revealed he had mixed feelings about that moment, noting that it was up to him, but he failed to deliver.

“The problem about the game is as ugly as it was throughout, I had an opportunity to win it at the end,” Hurts said, per NBC Sports Philadelphia. “And so that’s something I take a lot of pride in and I didn’t come up for my team.”

The Chargers secured an important win to improve to 9-4, while the Eagles fell to 8-5. Coincidentally, both teams kept their respective division races open with the result, as the Chargers continue to pursue the Denver Broncos (11-) and the Eagles couldn’t drift away from the Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1).

Hurts had an underwhelming game, going 21 of 40 for 240 yards, with four interceptions and a passer rating of 31.2. Speaking on his performance, he said that quarterbacks have to deal with all type of situations during a season.

“That’s a part of the game,” Hurts said. “Success or greatness, those things aren’t linear. You have your ups, you have your downs. But it’s about how you respond to it. I think about that. It’s nothing new that I haven’t faced before. It’s a matter of responding to it. I have a lot of confidence in how we’ll respond. I have a lot of confidence in how it will go.”

The Eagles will take on the Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) in Week 15, hoping to snap their three-game losing skid.
