The New York Giants took the field for their final practice of Week 15 on Friday, but beforehand, interim head coach Mike Kafka delivered some bad news.
While speaking with reporters, Kafka revealed that outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux would miss Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders due to a lingering shoulder injury. It will be the fourth straight game Thibs has sat out.
“He’s out, he’s out,” Kafka said.
Who will punt for the Giants on Sunday also remains uncertain. Jamie Gillan missed practice on Friday, but Kafka stopped short of ruling him out.
“We’re going to hold him out. He’s not going to kick today, so we’ll still keep him up to see where it goes. Still got some time,” Kafka said.
The status for return specialist Gunner Olszewski is equally cloudy, as he remains in concussion protocol, although Kafka expressed optimism that he will be cleared in time for kickoff after progressing on Friday.
Finally, cornerback Nic Jones, who did not participate in practice this week, underwent season-ending shoulder surgery. He will be placed on injured reserve (IR) with the hope that he’s cleared for offseason activities.
