The Detroit Lions have been in the playoffs for the past two years in a row, which still seems crazy to me as I’m typing this.

The bar has been raised and the “Same Old Lions” are dead.
During the past several seasons, the Lions have been battling against injuries on both sides of the ball, leading to the popular saying, ‘Next Man Up.

The Lions currently have a record of 8-5 going into their week 15 match up against the Los Angeles Rams and former QB Matthew Stafford.
This game has a lot on the line and could determine whether the Lions make the playoffs for a third year in a row or watch them on TV at home.
What Needs To Happen For Detroit Lions To Make The Playoffs
The easiest way for the Lions to secure a playoff spot is to keep winning their remaining games.
They have a path to make the playoffs either by winning their division (the NFC North) or by earning one of the Wild Card spots.
Winning the NFC North Division
The NFC North race is very tight, the best path for the Lions to win the division is:
Win all their remaining games, including their final game against the Chicago Bears.
The Green Bay Packers must finish with a record of 11-5-1 or worse (meaning they need to lose or tie at least two of their last four games).
If the Lions win out, they would finish 12-5.
If the Packers go 2-2, they’d finish 11-5-1, putting the Lions ahead.
Earning a Wild Card Spot
If the Lions don’t win the division, which seems pretty hard at this point in the season, they can still make the playoffs as one of the three Wild Card teams.
They need to finish with a better record than the other teams competing for the final playoff spots.
