ENGLEWOOD — Broncos cornerback Riley Moss is like most of us this holiday season.
Procrastinating on his gift shopping.
“I haven’t started shopping for presents,” Moss told The Denver Gazette after practice on Friday at Broncos Park. “But it gets itself figured out one way or the other. Nothing to stress about. A big focus right now is the Green Bay Packers.”
No kidding.
The Broncos (11-2) host the Packers (9-3-1) on Sunday at Empower Field with Moss and the Denver secondary tasked with defending a high-powered Green Bay passing offense. There are six different wide receivers with at least 20 receptions.
“It will be a fun time,” Moss said. “Just a bunch of competitors out there balling out. I’m excited for the challenge.”
Moss remains focused on limiting penalties after two impactful calls in a Week 11 home win over the Chiefs. The good news? He no longer leads NFL defensive backs in penalties. Moss was not flagged for pass interference over the last two games.
Moss took a unique practice approach to make it happen. The third-year cornerback put on boxing gloves to prevent grabbing his opponent and drawing a flag.
“Two weeks ago, I had them. It was a Thursday practice that I had them on for a team period,” Moss said. “It helped. It makes you more conscious of grabbing guys. I said that in the media kind of jokingly. But I was being dead serious. It’s worked out.”
Lewis clears
Tight end Marcedes Lewis cleared waivers on Friday to pave his way back to the Broncos practice squad.
Denver released Lewis with injured tight end Nate Adkins (knee) on track to return Sunday against Green Bay.
“There was a pretty clear understanding we needed him with Nate down. We created a roster spot,” coach Sean Payton said. “We know we wanted to have him back. So, it was more of just managing the roster.”
GB injuries
Packers starting running back Josh Jacobs is questionable to play Sunday with a knee injury. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Jacobs was limited Friday.
Jacobs is one of four Green Bay players who are questionable against the Broncos: DL Lukas Van Ness (foot), LB Kristian Welch (concussion) and WR Savion Williams (foot).
