Heading into Week 15 of the 2025 NFL season, nine teams have already been eliminated from playoff contention. On the flip side, no teams have clinched a playoff berth, yet. However, the Los Angeles Rams could change that as they’ll have an opportunity to clinch a spot in the postseason on Sunday.

At 10-3, Los Angeles’ path to clinching their third consecutive playoff berth is simple – they can do so with a win over the Detroit Lions. That’s it. Win and they’re in.

Rams can clinch playoff spot with win over the Lions

It’s worth noting that a win over Detroit won’t lock up the NFC West for L.A., as the Seattle Seahawks (10-3) are still in the mix there, but it will punch the Rams’ ticket to the playoffs.

Now, beating Detroit (8-5) will likely be easier said than done as the Lions are also fighting for their playoff lives and a loss will be detrimental to their hopes in that regard. Plus, they’re coming off of an impressive 44-30 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football last week, so they have a bit of momentum.

If the Rams can’t get it done this weekend, they’ll have other opportunities. Their final three games come against the Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals. They currently have a 98 percent chance of making the playoffs.

The Rams are the only team in the NFC with an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot in Week 15, though two AFC teams will also have an opportunity to do so.

The New England Patriots can clinch a playoff spot – and the AFC East – with a victory over the Buffalo Bills. Interestingly enough, the Patriots could wind up clinching a playoff spot even if they lose to Buffalo. If the Houston Texans lose to the Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts lose to the Seahawks, the Patriots will be in regardless of the outcome of their matchup with the Bills.

The Denver Broncos will also have an opportunity to clinch a postseason spot with a win over the Green Bay Packers. Like the Patriots, the Broncos could also secure a spot without winning. If the Texans and Seahawks both lose, Denver will be in regardless of what happens against Green Bay.
