The Cincinnati Bengals have activated linebacker Shaka Heyward to the 53-man roster from the injured reserve list, the team announced on Friday.
Heyward, who was placed on the injured reserve list on October 28 with a fibula injury, was designated for return from that list and returned to practice on December 3.
It appears Heyward will be active for Sunday’s game vs. the Baltimore Ravens, which would be a nice boost to a linebacker room that’s pretty thin heading into the final four games of the regular season. The team only has Barrett Carter, Demetrius Knight, Oren Burks, and Joe Giles-Harris on the 53-man roster, so Heyward will give them some added security for the final stretch of the season.
Heyward has appeared in two games defensively for the Bengals and logged seven total snaps. He’s played in eight games on special teams and logged 130 snaps there, mostly on the coverage teams.
