With the postseason approaching, it’s time to hand out some hardware. The 2025 College Football Awards show took place Friday night, honoring some of the biggest stars in the sport.

Awards such as the Biletnikoff Award, Davey O’Brien Award and Maxwell Award were announced Friday night with three finalists up for each. It’s a way to honor the top achievements of the year with the regular season in the books.

Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza emerged as a big winner, earning two of the top awards of the night. The biggest, of course, was the Maxwell Award as the Player of the Year in college football as he led the Hoosiers to a Big Ten title and the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.

On the defensive side, Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez won three awards. That includes the Bednarik Award, given to the Defensive Player of the Year, as he anchored the Red Raiders defense.

In addition, Curt Cignetti repeated as Home Depot Coach of the Year. He won it in 2024 after turning Indiana around immediately upon his arrival, and he did so again after leading IU to an undefeated regular season.

ESPN aired the special, which set the table for Saturday’s Heisman Trophy ceremony. Here is the full list of College Football Awards handed out Friday night.
