The New York Giants enter their Week 15 divisional showdown against the Washington Commanders knowing this is not just another late-season game.
With both teams dealing with injuries and roster changes, the matchup presents a new challenge that demands a reset rather than reliance on what happened earlier in the season.

That mindset was reinforced by Mike Kafka, who made it clear the Giants are preparing for a very different Washington team than the one they faced in Week 1. Speaking on Big Blue Weekly, Kafka stressed how rapidly teams evolve over the course of a season.
“Yeah, it can change, it can change, it changes all the time,” interim HC Kafka said. “The injuries, personnel, different packages you want to use to get guys in the game. So each week is its own kind of season within itself. And that’s kind of how we’re approaching this. Everything’s all in for this week.”
Washington arrives with several question marks after quarterback Jayden Daniels was nicked up again and tight end Zach Ertz suffered an injury in Sunday’s game. Those developments have altered the Commanders’ lineup and forced the Giants’ coaching staff to re-evaluate tendencies and potential adjustments across all phases.
Kafka left no doubt about how New York plans to respond. Rather than easing into the matchup, the Giants intend to be proactive and assertive. “So we’ll go through the tape, study it, put together a great plan in all three phases, and go and attack it,” Kafka said, underscoring the aggressive tone the team wants to carry into the game.
For a Giants team searching for consistency late in the year, the focus is narrow and intense. Past meetings and early-season results are irrelevant. As Kafka framed it, Week 15 is its own season, and the Giants are preparing to attack it, though they are out of the playoff race.
