Both the Miami Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Steelers are fighting for their playoff lives.

The Dolphins are riding a four-game winning streak with five victories in their last six games. But the Steelers have dominated Miami in recent years at home and will stand in the way of keeping their season alive. The Dolphins will also see a few former teammates across the sidelines.

Here are five Steelers players to watch in Week 15:

QB Aaron Rodgers

In his 21st NFL season, and first with the Steelers, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been a little banged up and was forced to miss Week 12 with a wrist injury. But in his most recent performance, Rodgers threw for 284 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in a desperately needed 27-22 win against the Ravens.

On the season, he has averaged just 197.5 passing yards per game and has thrown 20 touchdowns with seven interceptions in his 12 games played.

As a New York Jets quarterback last season, Rodgers was 1-1 against Miami, but played well in each game, throwing for a total of 613 yards, five touchdowns, and just one interception. Rodgers and New York beat Miami in the last game of the 2024 season at MetLife Stadium. Now he’ll look to end the Dolphins’ slim hopes of the playoffs again on Monday night.

OLB Alex Highsmith

Without perennial Pro Bowl pass rusher T.J. Watt this week, Alex Highsmith will arguably be the Steelers’ top threat for the Miami offensive line. Highsmith is just a half-sack behind Watt for the Steelers’ team lead in sacks.

Highsmith is coming off a fantastic game against the Ravens, where he recorded seven total tackles, three for loss, two quarterback hits, and a sack. Across his career, Highsmith has 42 sacks and 84 quarterback hits. Pittsburgh is sixth in the NFL in sacks, and Highsmith is a major reason why.

OLB Nick Herbig

The other player tied for second in sacks on the Steelers with Highsmith is Nick Herbig. The third-year pro is having his best season and leads Pittsburgh in tackles for loss with 12. He also shares the team lead with Watt in forced fumbles and took a recovery in for a touchdown back in Week 12 against the Bears.

With Watt out, Herbig has an opportunity to make a major impact. In nine career starts, the former fourth-round pick has six sacks, 14 quarterback hits, and four forced fumbles. He is an up-and-coming player in this league who could make a statement in prime time on Monday night.

WR D.K. Metcalf

Pittsburgh has a top-flight weapon at the wide receiver position in D.K. Metcalf. In his first season with the Steelers, to nobody’s surprise, he leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He may be the most physically imposing target that Miami has faced all season.

Metcalf has 52 receptions for 753 yards and five touchdowns so far, and last week had season-highs in catches with seven and yards with 148 against the Ravens. He has played the Dolphins twice in his career and has gone over 100 receiving yards in both of those games.

DB Jalen Ramsey

One of the former Dolphins facing his old team Monday night will be cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who wanted out and forced a trade during the offseason. That trade also sent tight end Jonnu Smith to Pittsburgh in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. This dynamic makes for a story within the game, and Ramsey will be looking for revenge, so to speak.

Ramsey hasn’t had a great season at all thus far, though. The seven-time Pro Bowler has just one interception and has been credited by PFF with allowing a five touchdowns along with a career-high 114.7 quarterback rating when targeted. While he has a pair of sacks this season, which ties a career best, Ramsey will need to turn back the clock a bit if he wants to make his old team hurt.
