The Dallas Cowboys are hanging on for their playoff lives and are entering a must-win game on “Sunday Night Football” against the Minnesota Vikings, but they will have to do it without one of their veteran players, who might be on his way out of Arlington.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs is out for the Vikings game due to a knee injury.

While that generally wouldn’t raise any questions, Diggs participated in the team’s practices throughout the week and even told the media he felt “good” after getting reps with his teammates.

Schultz commented that sources had told him that Diggs had a great week of practice and looked good enough to play against Minnesota in a game the Cowboys need to win if they have any hope of either catching the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East or snatching the final wildcard spot in the conference.

Multiple sources relayed to Schultz that Diggs is not playing because of internal turmoil between the player and the franchise, with the relationship described as “soured” and “severed.”

The Cowboys have had one of the weakest defenses in the NFL this season, and even with Diggs having a down year, it would have been a boost to the team’s overall structure to face a Minnesota Vikings team trying to find its own consistency on offense.

Diggs is in the second season of a five-year, $97 million contract. Although he is not slated to be an unrestricted free agent until 2029, the possibility of a trade or even a cut is not out of the question with the sudden news of his fractured relationship with the Cowboys.
