The Arizona Cardinals have known who they’re playing since Jan. 1 but now they know when. On Wednesday, the NFL released the remaining schedule for the 2025 season after teasing fans with leaks in the past several days.
The Cardinals’ 2025 schedule, which opens against the New Orleans Saints on the road, ranks as the 11th-easiest in the NFL based on opponent record in 2024.
The highlights include a Thursday Night Football hosting of the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4 and a Monday Night Football visit to Kyler Murray’s home state in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys.
After spending the offseason acquiring EDGE Josh Sweat and bolstering Nick Rallis’ defense with six defensive picks in the draft, the Cardinals are preparing for rubber to meet the road in September when they open against the Saints.
It will also be Year 2 for the 2024 NFL Draft’s No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr., quarterback Kyler Murray’s seventh NFL season and the third go-around for head coach Jonathan Gannon and general manager Monti Ossenfort.
In 2025, Arizona has eight home games and nine away from State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
Here is the schedule:
2025 Arizona Cardinals schedule
Week 1 — Sunday, Sept. 7 at New Orleans Saints (10 a.m., CBS)
2024 in review: 5-12, 3rd in NFC South, Didn’t make playoffs
The Saints’ explosive 2-0 start to last season (+60 point differential) ended up being fool’s gold, as they lost 12 of their final 15 games.
With Derek Carr retiring due to a severe shoulder injury, New Orleans’ starting quarterback role is wide open. Spencer Rattler, former Pinnacle Peak High School star from Phoenix, got seven starts sprinkled here and there in 2024, but his competition is in the form of 2025 second-round pick Tyler Shough, who is also an Arizona native (Chandler).
As for other notable offseason developments, the Saints signed veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to a two-year deal and extended defensive lineman Chase Young in March.
Week 2 — Sunday, Sept. 14 vs. Carolina Panthers (1:05 p.m., CBS)
2024 in review: 5-12, 3rd in NFC South, Didn’t make playoffs
Carolina only pulled off one win in its first eight games last year but closed the season with two OT victories in the final three weeks of play, including a 36-30 home triumph over the Cardinals.
In his second year, quarterback Bryce Young showed improvement (11 to 15 touchdowns, 62 to 29 sacks) but lacked the offensive weapons. The Panthers’ offense may not be as stagnant this season, however, with the addition of Arizona Wildcat product Tetairoa McMillan.
Week 3 — Sunday, Sept. 21 at San Francisco 49ers (1:25 p.m., FOX)
2024 in review: 6-11, 4th in NFC West, Didn’t make playoffs
The 49ers had both a disappointing and injury-riddled 2024. Since then, San Francisco shipped away pieces such as wide receiver Deebo Samuel and made George Kittle the highest-paid tight end in the NFL with a contract extension.
Quarterback Brock Purdy, a local Perry High School product from Gilbert, is still awaiting a contract extension of his own but his future with the team is not in doubt.
Week 4 — Thursday, Sept. 25 vs. Seattle Seahawks (Thursday Night Football, 5:15 p.m., Prime Video)
2024 in review: 10-7, 2nd in NFC West, Didn’t make playoffs
After missing out on the postseason due to a lost tiebreaker with Los Angeles, the Seahawks made a couple of major splashes before the draft. They signed quarterback Sam Darnold following his impressive run with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024 and also added wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who departed the Rams after eight seasons.
Mike MacDonald is entering his second season as Seattle’s head coach.
Week 5 — Sunday, Oct. 5 vs. Tennessee Titans (1:05 p.m., CBS)
2024 in review: 3-14, 4th in AFC South, Didn’t make playoffs
The Titans missed the postseason for the third straight year but hope to have just selected their future franchise quarterback in Miami’s Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick.
Week 6 — Sunday, Oct. 12 at Indianapolis Colts (10 a.m., FOX)
2024 in review: 8-9, 2nd in AFC South, Didn’t make playoffs
Indianapolis was just never quite in sync last season. It won four of five from Week 3 to 7 before falling victim to a dense part of its schedule, losing four of the next five — all to eventual playoff teams (Texans, Vikings, Bills, Lions).
The Colts lacked clarity at the quarterback position with Anthony Richardson splitting starts with Joe Flacco (10 to seven). Signing Daniel Jones from the Vikings in March made the signal caller battle more congested.
Week 7 — Sunday, Oct. 19 vs. Green Bay Packers (1:25 p.m., FOX)
2024 in review: 11-6, 3rd in NFC North, Lost to Philadelphia Eagles in Wild Card Round
The Packers had the unfortunate privilege of being knocked out of the postseason by the eventual Super Bowl 59 champion Eagles. Quarterback Jordan Love followed up a breakout 2023 with more efficiency (69.3 QBR, 25 touchdowns, 11 interceptions).
Week 8 — BYE
Week 9 — Monday, Nov. 3 at Dallas Cowboys (Monday Night Football, 6:15 p.m., ESPN/ABC)
2024 in review: 7-10, 3rd in NFC East, Didn’t make playoffs
The future of coach Mike McCarthy was in jeopardy after losing starting quarterback Dak Prescott to hamstring injury and a sluggish 3-7 start in 2024. While Dallas fought for a puncher’s chance near the end, a division with the rising Commanders and juggernaut Eagles made the playoffs unattainable.
And with that, McCarthy was out after five seasons and the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was in before the conference championship games were even played.
Electric wide receiver CeeDee Lamb signed a four-year contract extension last August and will be accompanied by recently acquired, ex-Steeler George Pickens, who Dallas COO Stephen Jones compared to past organization legend Dez Bryant. Linebacker Micah Parsons is entering the final year of his contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
Week 10 — Sunday, Nov. 9 at Seattle Seahawks (2:05 p.m., CBS)
Week 11 — Sunday, Nov. 16 vs. San Francisco 49ers (2:05 p.m., FOX)
Week 12 — Sunday, Nov. 23 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (2:05 p.m., CBS)
2024 in review: 4-13, 3rd in AFC South, Didn’t make playoffs
The Jaguars may have struck gold in two-way player Travis Hunter. He certainly will help their struggling offense (18.8 points per game in 2024) but also looks to ignite a less-than-stellar defensive group.
Liam Coen, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator, will assume head coaching duties for the fired Doug Pederson.
Week 13 — Sunday, Nov. 30 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11:00 a.m., FOX)
2024 in review: 10-7, 1st in NFC South, Lost to Washington Commanders in Wild Card Round
Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans gave the Commanders all they could handle in the first round of the postseason but ultimately fell on a time-expiring kick by former Cardinal Zane Gonzalez. The Buccaneers claimed their fourth straight NFC South banner.
Week 14 — Sunday, Dec. 7 vs. Los Angeles Rams (2:25 p.m., FOX)
2024 in review: 10-7, 1st in NFC West, Lost to Philadelphia Eagles in Divisional Round
A team that may have exceeded divisional expectations last season, the Rams’ most critical move of the offseason was retaining quarterback Matthew Stafford. And while L.A. lost receiver Cooper Kupp to the rival Seattle Seahawks, it gained fellow First Team All-Pro Davante Adams.
Week 15 — Sunday, Dec. 14 at Houston Texans (11:00 a.m., FOX)
2024 in review: 10-7, 1st in AFC South, Lost to Kansas City Chiefs in Divisional Round
Despite backing into the postseason, Houston defended its division title and delivered a dominant 20-point Wild Card win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud continued to shine after 4,108 passing yards a rookie, throwing for 3,727 more in 2024 despite taking 52 sacks behind a struggling offensive line. Joe Mixon rushed for 1,016 yards in his first year with the Texans after being dealt by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Week 16 — Sunday, Dec. 21 vs. Atlanta Falcons (2:05 p.m., FOX)
2024 in review: 8-9, 2nd in NFC South, Didn’t make playoffs
Atlanta faltered following a promising start to last season (6-3) and made a significant quarterback change from Kirk Cousins to then-rookie Michael Penix Jr. for its final three games.
The Falcons picked up the fifth-year option for wide receiver Drake London, securing their top pass catcher through 2026.
Week 17 — SATURDAY OR SUNDAY, Dec. 27 or 28 at Cincinnati Bengals (TBD, TBD)
2024 in review: 9-8, 3rd in AFC North, Didn’t make playoffs
In his fifth season, quarterback Joe Burrow led the league in passing yards (4,918), passing touchdowns (43), completions (460), passing attempts (652) and first downs (253). If not for Cincinnati’s lackluster record, he would have been a strong MVP candidate.
In the offseason, the Bengals made sure to lock down their top two receivers, giving Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase four-year contract extensions through 2028 and 2029, respectively.
Cincinnati lost defensive end Sam Hubbard to retirement and is trying to retain defensive end Trey Hendrickson, who said he won’t play under his current contract. Texas A&M EDGE Shemar Stewart was a highly graded first-round addition.
Week 18 — SATURDAY OR SUNDAY, Jan. 3 or 4 at Los Angeles Rams (TBD, TBD)
2025 Arizona Cardinals preseason schedule
Week 1 — Aug. 7-10 vs. Kansas City Chiefs (TBD, TBD)
Week 2 — Aug. 14-18 at Denver Broncos (TBD, TBD)
Week 3 — Aug. 21-24 vs. Las Vegas Raiders (TBD, TBD)
