When it rains, it pours.
Cardinals running back Bam Knight was carted off during the first quarter of Arizona’s game against the Houston Texans with an ankle injury.
The running back saw one carry for negative two yards before exiting. He’s officially questionable to return, though sideline reporter Paul Calvisi said Knight could hardly put any weight on the ankle.
Additionally, rookie Cody Simon was shaken up on the ensuing Texans drive. He is also questionable to return with a knee issue.
With Knight sidelined, the Cardinals will look to Michael Carter and Emari Demercado to pick up the slack. Corey Kiner is also available.
Before the running back went down, Arizona was already up against it in Houston.
Allowing an opening-drive touchdown on just two plays before coughing up the rock on the ensuing kick return and giving up a field goal, the Cardinals offense took the field for the first time on Sunday already down 10-0.
And when Arizona did manage to get on the field offensively, it was quickly ushered off by the Texans defense after three plays and negative seven yards.
Houston meanwhile followed the field goal up with another trip to the end zone behind an eight-play, 49-yard scoring drive.
That’s three straight scoring drives for the Texans to open up the game.
