There’s no way anyone had this on their Bingo card at the start of the NFL season.
Philip Rivers is the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts today, Dec. 14, against the Seattle Seahawks in NFL Week 15 action.

It has been 1,800 days since the 44-year-old has played. On Jan. 9, 2021, Rivers led the Colts in their last playoff appearance, a 27-24 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He passed for 309 yards and two touchdowns as a 39-year-old.
“I love the game. I got an opportunity,” Rivers told CBS shortly before the game. “I’m not out here trying to be a hero.”
Since then, Rivers has had another child — he has 10 now — has entrenched himself as a high school football coach in Alabama, and one of his daughters has given birth.
That’s right, the Colts are starting a grandfather against a stalwart Seahawks defense that is ranked No. 11 against the pass (197.1 yards per game) and sacks opposing quarterbacks on 8% of their dropbacks (No. 7).

Rivers got the call from the Colts last weekend, and he quickly accepted a workout invitation. He was been added to the practice squad on Tuesday, and then the active roster on Saturday.
Why is Philip Rivers coming out of retirement?
“I’d not given any thought of actually playing again until about 48 hours ago, to be honest with you, but this wasn’t just any place or any coach,” Rivers said Wednesday. “It’s not like, ‘Oh, shoot, I’ll see what happens in the league and see if I can get ready.’”
