The Cardinals close out their home schedule on Sunday with a visit from the Atlanta Falcons, a game that will naturally come with a holiday bent given that Christmas is a few days later.

That game remains the priority of coach Jonathan Gannon, above the last two games on the road in Cincinnati and Los Angeles, and certainly above the questions of the offseason, of which there will be many.

But Gannon acknowledged on Monday there is always a spot somewhere in the background to consider what needs to be changed in the future.

“I do have to have a little bit of foresight as I am taking notes as the year has gone, what do I have to look at with a critical eye and change,” Gannon said the day after the Cardinals fell to 3-11 with a loss in Houston. “Because if we keep doing the same thing and getting the same result that’s not good for anybody in my seat.”

Two of the most important aspects to potentially alter, Gannon said, are health and player development.

“There’s a lot of different factors that go into that,” he said. “And I’m responsible for all of them.”

Injuries have taken a toll. That is irrefutable. The offense that played against the Texans was missing seven of the 11 starters that opened the season in New Orleans – and one of the four remaining starters was guard Isaiah Adams, who was playing then because Will Hernandez was rehabbing.

Gannon said he wasn’t analyzing the season from a big-picture view yet, and when asked about doing so through the lens of the injury bug, the coach dismissed the thought.

“Whoever is out there, we have to put them in spots to have success,” he said. “Can that be challenging at times? Absolutely. But everyone goes through it, and that’s our job.”

Gannon said he speaks daily with owner Michael Bidwill, the subject being “what are we going to do to get this team rolling.”

Gannon also said he does not think about his job status for 2026.

Asked what his “pitch” would be to ownership to stay, Gannon said there was no pitch. But he amended that thought moments later.

“I believe in myself and I believe in our team,” Gannon said. “We are at a dip right now. We’re going through some adversity, but I do believe in us and we will get out of the dip.”

INJURY UPDATE

Gannon didn’t have any specific injury updates on Monday. He listed again the players who left Sunday’s game — wide receiver Andre Baccellia (neck), linebacker Cody Simon (ankle/knee), running back Bam Knight (ankle), and cornerback Darren Hall (concussion) – and said they would be monitored through the week.

The Cardinals also had six players injured and inactive Sunday (plus guard Evan Brown, who has been out more than a week for personal reasons.) That group includes left tackle Paris Johnson Jr., safety Jalen Thompson, and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
