The Patriots reportedly signed LB Chad Muma off the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad.
The New England Patriots have reportedly signed linebacker Chad Muma off the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad, according to Jordan Schultz.
This is the second practice squad linebacker that the Colts have lost on Monday, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signing Anthony Walker Jr.
Muma was claimed on waivers by the Colts in late August during roster cutdowns.
Muma was drafted by Jacksonville in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft. Over those three seasons, Muma played 692 defensive snaps over 50 games, which included seven starts.
From Weeks 2 through 6, Muma played 32 defensive snaps for the Colts as they rotated and searched for stability at linebacker next to Zaire Franklin.
Muma also played 71 special teams snaps over five games with Indianapolis.
His role, however, would shrink with the addition of Germaine Pratt early in the year. Muma was eventually released from the Colts’ 53-man roster before being signed to the practice squad.
He will now join the Patriots’ active roster.
After losing Muma and Walker Jr., the Colts now have two openings on the practice squad to fill.
