The 2025 season started with a streak for the Houston Texans, and not the good kind. Three straight losses, albeit all three by less than one score, had optimistic Houston Texans fans jumping off the bow of the good ship DeMeco Ryans. In short, it was the worst kind of streak.

Time have changed, though, for the Houston Texans, and now we are in the midst of the good kind of streak, the best kind of streak really — a nice, long winning streak that includes wins over legitimate NFL playoff contenders.

Six games. That’s the streak, the Texans are on right now, and there is so much to love about this run. First, the fact that the wins are split evenly right now, between backup QB Davis Mills and incumbent starter C.J. Stroud, is a fantastic symbol of the depth that’s been built by GM Nick Caserio and head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Next, the fact that the Texans are trending upward within the streak, going from a massive comeback over Jacksonville, to a slew of one score games the next three, and two double digit wins in the last two weeks, is a great sign for the postseason. More and more people are climbing on the Texans’ bandwagon.

Finally, it’s absolutely gorgeous that the six wins include a wins over each division rival — Jacksonville, Tennessee, and Indianapolis — plus wins over Buffalo and the Texans’ own personal boogeyman, the Kansas Chiefs. This isn’t the longest win streak in Texans’ history, but it might be the most gratifying.

For historical perspective, this current six games winning streak is tied for the third longest in franchise history. So here are the other three that this one is either tied with or still chasing:

6 games — 2012, Weeks 7 through 13

This was the second year that the Texans ultimately made the playoffs as a franchise, with Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson, Arian Foster, and a fully activated cyborg version of J.J. Watt. The Texans started the season 5-0, lost a Week 6 game to Green Bay, and then reeled off six more consecutive wins to move to 11-1 on the year. In the end, this season ended in major disappointment, with a 1-3 stretch run and a blowout loss to the Patriots in the playoffs.

7 games — 2011, Weeks 7 through 14

This was the first season the Texans EVER made the playoffs, where a 3-3 start turned into a 10-3 record. Unfortunately, along the way, they lost Matt Schaub to a foot injury, and while rookie QB T. J. Yates was a great story taking over for Schaub, the injury to Schaub might have cost the Texans their best chance at a Super Bowl. It’d be fun to do a computer simulation of the 2011 Texans, with Schaub, against the 2025 Texans.

9 games — 2018, Weeks 4 through 13

This was the other most famous 0-3 start in team history, in the season after Bill O’Brien won a power struggle with former GM Rick Smith. It didn’t start great, but the 0-3 start was the launching point for the longest winning streak in team history, a nine game stretch that included an overtime win over the Cowboys. Ultimately, several of the wins were somewhat phony, one score wins, and the season ended in a whimper, with a home loss to the Colts in the first round of the playoffs.
