Houston, Texas:
It was the legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi who said. “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” Winning is becoming a habit in Houston as the Texans win their sixth straight game in front of the hometown fans grounding the Arizona Cardinals 40-20. I got call this week calling my attention to the fact that I wrote last week that the Texans were playing the St. Louis Cardinals. The truth be known, St. Louis or Arizona the Cardinals got defeathered. It was a game of firsts for the Texans, the longest run from scrimmage, the longest kick return, the most rushing yards, and the widest winning score this season. Right off the practice field Jawhar Jordan had a beautiful fifty (50) yard run from scrimmage and was the first back to rush for one hundred (100) yards this season. He went on to have fifteen (15) carries for one hundred and one (101) yards. Kickoff specialist Jaylin Noel lit it up with a sixty-nine (69) yard spectacular run back to put in the Texans in scoring position.
C.J. Stroud, calm and cool, had a terrific day with twenty-two (22) attempts for two hundred and sixty (260) yards with three (3) touchdown passes with two (2) of those TDs to wide receiver Nico Collins. Collins looked impressive as he was physical all day long with three (3) receptions for eight-five (85) yards. Tight end Dalton Schultz had a breakout game with a record nine (9) receptions for seventy-six (76) yards and a touchdown. He needs to be used more in this offense. Azeez Al-Shaair was a beast leading the team with seven (7) solo tackles with five (5) assists. Fellow defensive back Kamari grabbed a pick in the endzone to stop a Cardinals’ drive. As the head coach Ryans pointed out it was truly a complimentary game with all the units making a positive impact on the outcome of the game.
The most interesting play took place in the first quarter, in the red zone, when Texans’ quarterback C.J. Stroud lined up under center when the play called for him to be in the shotgun formation. The ball was snapped at Marks, who scooped up the ball and shot into the endzone like a missile, adding another touchdown for the hometown team.
After the game, Texans’ head coach Ryans confessed that it was a miscue that luckily turned into a positive result.
In other AFC South Division action, the (8-6) Indianapolis Colts lost against the Settle Seahawks 18-16, the (10-4) Jacksonville Jaguars jammed the Jets 48-20 and the (2-12) Tennessee Titans lost against the San Francisco 49er’s 37-24. The Texans are firmly in second place in their division.
The (9-5) Houston Texans take on the (2-12) Las Vegas Raiders in a late game, so read all about your hometown team in your hometown paper.
