The Seattle Seahawks did something they had not one in two years on Sunday.

No, this is not about Seahawks kicker Jason Myers. Although his six field goals were historic in their own right.

This Seahawks statistical accomplishment actually led to Myers having such a historic afternoon against the Indianapolis Colts.

Seattle did not commit a single turnover in its 18-16 victory over Indianapolis. Why is that so notable?

It is because the Seahawks had gone multiple seasons without a clean game at Lumen Field.

Seahawks Have First Turnover-Free Home Game Since 2023

You read that right. The Seahawks, who have finished over .500 in each of the last three seasons, have committed a turnover during a home game for basically two years.

For the first time since December 2023, the Seahawks committed 0 turnovers at home.

They absolutely could not afford a single turnover in the Colts game, either. Their offense could not do much early, and when they did sustain drives later in the game, they could not convert those drives into touchdowns.

It was ugly, and it ultimately came down to the defense limiting a 44-year-old Philip Rivers and a weakened Colts offense to just 16 points.

With how badly Seattle’s offense played, one turnover almost certainly would have turned that game into a defeat.

The home turnover streak ended at the exact right time for the 11-3 Seahawks.

The last time the Seahawks played a game at Lumen Field, they beat the Philadelphia Eagles 20-17 on Monday Night Football. Drew Lock was starting at quarterback for Seattle that game and threw a game-winning touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the final minute of the game. JSN was a rookie that season.

It is absolutely wild that the last time the Seahawks played a turnover-free game at home Pete Carroll was still the head coach and they did it with a backup quarterback on the field.

It is even wilder that the Seahawks have been able to overcome the turnover issues on their way to the second-best record in the NFL.

Quarterback Issues in 2024 and 2025

Sam Darnold is not a bad quarterback for the Seahawks and Geno Smith was a bad quarterback during his time with the Seahawks either.

But it is undeniable that they both threw some interceptions when wearing the blue and green.

Darnold’s 11 interceptions are tied for the fourth-most in the league this season. Interestingly, only three of those interceptions came at Lumen Field.

As for Smith, his 15 interceptions last season were the third-most in the NFL.

With 26 combined interceptions from the two starting quarterbacks over the past two seasons, it is a minor miracle that head coach Mike Macdonald has a 21-10 career record in Seattle.

A great defense always helps offset the turnovers, but eventually this trend needs to stop if the Seahawks want to achieve some high-level goals.

The biggest obstacle in Seattle’s path to success is its NFC West foe in the Los Angeles Rams. To this point, interceptions against LA have blocked the Seahawks from winning the division.

Smith tossed three picks in a 26-20 overtime loss in early November of last season. Since both teams finished the 2024 season at 10-7 overall, that loss ended up being the reason Seattle missed the playoffs.

That similar trend repeated itself in 2025 when Darnold threw four interceptions in a 21-19 loss to the Rams in Los Angeles. Both teams enter their ‘Thursday Night Football’ showdown with the same record, but LA has the tiebreaker because of those interceptions from Darnold.

If the Seahawks don’t want a repeat of last year, they will need to play another clean game at Lumen Field on Thursday.
