Detroit Lions loss to Rams isn’t end: Breaking down NFL Week 15 loss
Free Press sports writers Dave Birkett and Carlos Monarrez break down the Detroit Lions’ NFL Week 15 loss to the LA Rams on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025.
The Detroit Lions lost another safety. This time, at least, it wasn’t to injury.
The Tennessee Titans signed safety Erick Hallett off the Lions‘ practice squad on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Hallett made a career-high 10 tackles while starting in place of the injured Brian Branch in the Lions’ 41-34 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last week.
Branch is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon, and fellow starting safety Kerby Joseph hasn’t played in more than two months because of a knee injury.
Avonte Maddox joined Hallett in the starting lineup last week. The Lions are expected to get top backup Thomas Harper back from concussion protocol for their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday (4:25 p.m., CBS).
To take Hallett’s place, the Lions signed defensive back Keenan Garber.
