BLEAV in Bills: Win over the Patriots showed some real mettle

Sal Maiorana is joined by Vic Carucci to look back at the Bills’ victory over New England, and look ahead to Sunday’s game in Cleveland.

The Buffalo Bills announced the signing of kicker Michael Badgley to their practice squad, and he will undoubtedly be elevated to the 53-man roster to kick in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

To make room, the Bills cut cornerback M.J. Devonshire who they had just signed to the practice squad last week.

The Bills’ incredible injury list gained another visitor during the victory over the New England Patriots when Matt Prater suffered a quad injury, and coach Sean McDermott said Monday that he would definitely miss the upcoming game, and termed his status as week-to-week, meaning Prater will probably miss several games.

The 30-year-old Badgley has been an NFL vagabond since first entering the league in 2018 with the Chargers.

He kicked three seasons for Los Angeles through 2020, and since then has bounced around to the Titans to the Colts to the Bears to the Lions and then back to the Colts.

He sat out the 2024 season, and during his second stint with the Colts this year he appeared in seven games and made 10 of 11 field goals with the lone miss from outside 50 yards, but he did miss three of the 21 extra points he attempted.

On kickoffs, he did a good job of keeping the ball in play as he produced just one touchback on his 36 kickoffs.

For his career he has an 83.1% success rate on field goals and a 94.9% rate on extra points.

Badgley will have to prove he can kick in the elements because he has played his entire career either in warm-weather climates or domes.
