The Arizona Cardinals suffered another blowout loss on Sunday. This time, it was not to an NFC West opponent. It was a 40-20 road loss to the Houston Texans. They have now lost six games in a row and 11 of their last 12.
And in new NFL power rankings for Week 16 by USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, they have fallen, which is understandable.

Where do the Cardinals rank this week?
Arizona Cardinals fall in new Week 16 NFL power rankings
The Cardinals now are No. 25, two behind where they were a week ago.
TE Trey McBride and WR Michael Wilson are the only NFL players with at least 40 receptions since Week 11 (both have 44 during that span). Despite all their efforts, the Cards are 0-5 during that stretch.
We can add to that. Jacoby Brissett has 18 touchdown passes in nine starts. However, they are 1-5.
They have played six games since head coach Jonathan Gannon said that Brissett would have remained the starter even if Kyler Murray were healthy. They are 0-6 with a minus-95 point differential.
So it’s a weird situation. Brissett’s numbers look impressive on the surface. He is getting the ball to McBride and Wilson, who has gotten looks as the No. 1 receiver with Marvin Harrison Jr. missing four of the last five games. Those are good things, they also happen while the Cardinals are trailing by multiple scores. They have lost by three or more scores in four of their last six games.

While they play the 5-9 Atlanta Falcons this week and the 4-10 Cincinnati Bengals next week, it still is hard to believe that the Cardinals will win any games the rest of the season.
