LAKE FOREST, Ill., — Linebacker D’Marco Jackson was claimed off of waivers by the Chicago Bears in late August, joining the team as a reserve linebacker. A few months later, he’s earned an honor in the NFC.
Jackson was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after another impressive game against the Cleveland Browns. Jackson led the Bears with a sack and an interception, each of which registered as the first of his career, in Chicago’s Week 15 win over Cleveland. Jackson was the only defender in the NFL to register at least one sack and one interception in a winning effort in Week 15, and the first NFL linebacker to do so in a game since Week 8.
Jackson is the first Chicago defender to be named NFC Defensive Player of the Week since Week 1 of last season (Stevenson) and becomes the fifth different member of the Bears to receive an NFC Player of the Week / Month this season – Williams (Offense, Week 3), Blackwell (Special Teams, Week 4), Loveland (Offense, Week 9) and Wright (Defense, November).
