Despite a playoff elimination and a season-ending injury for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs still have three games to finish their season strong. But it won’t be without challenges. Kansas City has struggled with injuries throughout the season, but heading into Week 16, the Chiefs are particularly battered. Head coach Andy Reid said multiple players missed practice Wednesday: Leo Chenal (shoulder), Trent McDuffie (knee), Jaylon Moore (knee), Rashee Rice (concussion protocol), Jawaan Taylor (elbow) and Tyquan Thornton (concussion protocol). Mahomes was also placed on the injured reserve. The Chiefs will have to adapt as they face the Tennessee Titans, likely without many of their typical starters. A rotating roster has been a constant this season as injuries and absences have repeatedly come up. Gardner Minshew will fill in for Mahomes. The rest of the lineup won’t be set until closer to the game, but the Chiefs announced Wednesday that practice squad defensive tackle Zacch Pickens was signed to the active roster and wide receiver Jimmy Holiday was signed to the practice squad. The Chiefs also announced that tight end Jake Briningstool and cornerback Nazeeh Johnson will return to practice. When asked how to balance playing veterans versus less experienced players, Reid said that essentially everyone is already getting a chance to play. “All our young guys are playing,” Reid said. “I mean, they’re in there and going. … We’ve got ’em all going. They’re all rolling.”
