Close-knit teams, brotherhoods win championships. The Houston Texans appear to have that characteristic of a championship locker room with their current team.

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was one of the latest to praise one of his teammates. He said the following on Collins’ three-year streak of 1,000 receiving yards. He shared the following of Collins’ season.

“I’m just super proud of Nico. That’s my brother, man. I missed him on a couple out there. I owe him a couple more, but I’m just really proud of him, and the work he’s put in on his body, on his game.

I think he’s one of the best in the league, and he’s that proven every year. So, let’s keep this streak going.”

The brother-like bond is evident by how timely Stroud’s passes hit Collins in stride. Stroud and Collins have been one of the better quarterback-wide receiver tandems in the NFL since the two have been playing in the league.

The 1,000-yard streak puts the Texans wide receiver in rarified air and among the top receivers in the history of a franchise that includes the likes of Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins among others.

Collins likely goes under the radar when it comes to reasons why the Texans get credit as a potential Super Bowl candidate. The team has quickly gone from 3-5 to one of the best teams in the league over an extended winning streak.

Many point to the defense as the reason why the Texans have been so successful this season. First in the league, and stifling, even when the team plays the top quarterbacks, running backs and overall offenses in the league. Still, the offense deserves credit for putting points on the board, and Collins is a big reason why the team has been productive on that side of the ball.

There’s still plenty of football left for Houston and Collins to play in the regular season and beyond. Collins and company are 9-5 with games against the Las Vegas Raiders, Las Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts still left to be played. Add in a potential extended postseason run, and there’s likely plenty more offensive production to be had for the Texans this season. Even so, it’s impressive that Collins already reached 1,000 yards so early in the year.

The Texans will look to keep their six-game winning streak alive against the struggling Las Vegas Raiders when they next take the field.
