With injuries to both Nick Herbig and T.J. Watt, the Pittsburgh Steelers were due to add some help at outside linebacker. According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, that help is coming via a familiar face. Zenitz reported that the Steelers are planning to sign linebacker Jeremiah Moon off of the Carolina Panthers practice squad.
In addition to Moon, the Steelers also brought in linebackers Ronnie Perkins, Isaiah Thomas, Casey Toohill and Oshane Ximines in for tryouts on Wednesday. Moon was originally claimed off waivers by the Steelers in January of 2024. They placed him on IR in August but activated him in October. Moon was active for 13 games and had one start but had no sacks.
The Steelers could also consider putting in a waiver claim for veteran Matthew Judon after he was released by the Miami Dolphins. It is unclear if Watt will be able to return at all this season after suffering a punctured lung after a dry needling procedure at the team’s facilities last week.
