Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 15 loss Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers which officially eliminated the team from playoff contention and led to quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ torn ACL, Golden J and Chico open up the show with their thoughts on the season as a whole.

Golden J notes that Kansas City’s absence from the playoffs this season is actually a sigh of relief, knowing that he won’t have to deal with the stress of watching his team compete and the ups-and-downs of trying to make it to the Super Bowl — though he’ll still be watching and enjoying the competitiveness.

Looking at what went wrong this year, Golden J mentions that the Chiefs’ offensive line was decimated, which ultimately led to Mahomes not being able to play his game, as he had to scramble in the pocket and had less time to get set.

Last week, our duo assessed Kansas City’s playoff chances at 16% and held onto hope that they would sneak into the playoffs, which is now no longer possible. Chico and Golden J mention how that belief, even at such a low percentage, came from years of success, and how spoiled all fans have been over the last decade.

Our duo is still true fans of the Chiefs, so they will be glued to the television in these last three weeks, rooting for Kansas City and hoping to see some names find success that aren’t the usual suspects.

As if missing the playoffs wasn’t bad enough, Mahomes’ torn ACL will likely sideline him for the entirety of the 2026 season. The face of the National Football League going down is something that no football fan wanted to see. Golden J and Chico have one of the boldest takes of the year on his availability next season, which you’ll need to listen to the full podcast to hear.

As if things couldn’t get any worse in KC, this could also be tight end Travis Kelce’s last season in the NFL, which he even hinted at during his podcast “New Heights”.

Despite the Chiefs’ playoff dreams being over, there are still three games remaining in the regular season. Roundtable’s Chiefs podcast will still be uploading weekly, so be sure to join our page and give it a listen! Make sure to also join the team’s site and be a part of our community!
