Oklahoma State LB Wendell Gregory plans to enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Gregory just finished his first, and now only, season with Oklahoma State. That’s after beginning his collegiate career last season with a redshirt year, playing in just two games while there, at South Carolina.
In his lone year with the Cowboys, Gregory appeared in all dozen games this fall. He’d go on to post 27 total tackles, 12.0 of those being for loss with 4.0 sacks, with one forced fumble and one pass deflection. That’d have him as the team leader in tackles for loss and sacks this season on defense for the ‘Pokes.
A Marietta, Georgia native, Gregory played his high school football at Walton. He was the No. 200 overall recruit there as a four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He also rated as a Top-30 edge in the class and a Top-25 player out of the state of Georgia. That’s according to the Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. That’d make him one of the top signees in what was a Top-20 recruiting class that cycle for the Gamecocks, per Rivals’ 2024 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Gregory is now to be the latest departure at this point in the NCAA Transfer Portal for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys have lost several players so far since the end of September after the firing of Mike Gundy. That has continued since their regular season concluded three weeks ago, with the program having since hired their next head coach in Eric Morris. Now, further departures, as well as arrivals, are expected this offseason in Stillwater, with the next being Gregory.
After two transfers in two seasons, Gregory will have three years of eligibility left to use elsewhere. Where he’ll be playing next, though, won’t be known until his name is officially in the portal come the opening of the one-time, two-week window on January 2nd.
