“Oh my gosh. You know how many times we hopped on the South Shore Line, drive then to Soldier Field to watch the bears. We can just roll out of our beds and watch them here in town. Man, would that be great? That’d be something,” Fan Connor Lombard said.

“Oh my God, it’d be nuts. I’d love it. Everybody in this area would go crazy,” Fan Bob Roule said.

“That would be amazing for Michigan City. I think everybody here would would welcome that,” Fan Ben Roule said.

The Bears looking to shuffle locations, exploring Northwest Indiana for their new stadium.

The franchise has been trying to get Illinois to help fund a new stadium in the northwest Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights.

People in Northwest Indiana say the move is one they think benefits the region.

“The development that would surround a new facility there would just be unbelievable. The amount of money that would come in facility services around the stadium would be great, great for the area. This area has been so underdeveloped for so many years, and there’s so much potential here. It’s never been really utilized or facilitated,” Bob Roule said.

“We’re basically a suburb of Chicago, it’s only an hour drive, basically. Now we’ve got the double track South Shore Line, which is great. You know, there’s a lot of options,” Ben Roule said.

“We can hop on the South Shore and do all that, South Bend. And South Bend and Chicago. Everyone meet right here in the middle of Northwest Indiana. It’s not a bad idea, not a bad idea,” Lombard said.

Even with all the excitement, some fans would prefer the Bears stay at Soldier Field.

“When they did redid Soldier Field, what they did, I thought was very short sighted. They probably should have domed that, that facility at the time redid, all the restroom facilities and everything. I still think that’s where fans would like to go,” Bob Roule said.

Governor Mike Braun chiming in posting on X: “This move would deliver a major economic boost, create jobs, and bring another premier NFL franchise to the Hoosier State. Let’s get it done”
