There is an NFC East matchup on Saturday from Landover, Md., in this Eagles vs. Commanders prediction. The Eagles (9-5) are coming off an easy 31-0 win over the Raiders last Sunday as a 13-point favorite. Washington (4-10) has been eliminated from the playoffs, but they did beat NFC East rival NY Giants last Sunday, 29-21 as a 3-point dog. These teams have not met this season, and their last meeting was on Jan. 26 in the NFC Championship with the Eagles winning big 55-23 as a 6-point favorite. The Eagles are a 6-point favorite in this game with the total at 44.5 and the money line with Philly -290 and Washington +235. These teams meet on Saturday at 5pmET from Northwest Stadium. Terms & Conditions Eagles break a three-game losing streak

Philly is in first place in the NFC East, but they still didn’t clinch a playoff spot. Fortunately for the Eagles, the Cowboys have lost two straight and are 6-7-1 and each team has split both meetings this season. The Raiders game became a must-win and they got the job done, rushing for 183 yards. Jalen Hurts was very efficient, completing 12 of 15 for 175 yards and three TD passes. Defensively, they completely shut down Kenny Pickett (64 yards passing, 1 TD) and the lowly Las Vegas offense.

The Raiders’ offensive line has been dismal all year, but the Eagles have had their own issues up front. Saquon Barkley (stinger), who is questionable for this game, has rushed for 940 yards with six TDs and a 3.9 ypc average. Last season, he rushed for 2,0005 yards and 13 TDs. He does have 37 catches for 273 yards and two TDs. Hurts has had his own struggles, throwing 2,929 yards with 22 TDs and six picks. He also has 376 yards rushing and eight TDs.  Four of those six interceptions came against the Chargers on Monday night, Dec. 8, in a 22-19 overtime defeat.

Defensively, like many teams, Philadelphia is banged up, with DT Jalen Carter dealing with a shoulder injury. The offensive line also has injury issues with OT Lane Johhnson (foot), G Landon Dickerson (calf), and OT Fred Johnson (ankle) listed as questionable.

Daniels to sit the rest of the season

It’s been a disastrous season for Washington, and it starts with QB Jayden Daniels, who was the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year. Daniels has dealt with numerous injuries, including a left elbow injury that kept him out last week against the Giants. On Tuesday, the Commanders decided to sit Daniels for the rest of the season and go with veteran Marcus Mariota.

The Commander had lost eight straight games heading into their matchup with New York on the road and got the win thanks to a strong running game. Mariota rushed for 43 yards and completed 10 of 19 for 211 yards with one TD. Jacory (Bill) Croskey-Merritt led Washington with 96 yards rushing and a score. The Commanders fumbled four times and lost two, but were leading 22-7 at the half and held on for the 29-21 win. WR Terry McLaurin, who has had an injury-riddled season himself, added three catches for 69 yards and a TD.

Mariota has done a solid job overall, completing 62% of his passes for 1,600 yards with 10 TDs and seven picks. He also has 298 yards rushing and one TD. The passing game has been mostly non-existent due to the injuries at receiver and with Daniels out for more than half the season. They rank fourth in rushing (1371yppg), but 24th in passing (191.3ypg).

On the injury front, OT Laremy Tunsil (oblique) and LB Bobby Wagner (ankle) are questionable.

Picks and Prediction for Eagles vs. CommandersEagles vs. Commanders Pick and Prediction Washington +6.5 (5 units)

I don’t see a Dan Quinn team quitting. Even though Daniels is out, Mariota has McLaurin and Deebo Samuel on the field and healthy, which is something Daniels rarely had. They can do some damage against an Eagles team that has issues against the run (125.9ypg), ranking 22nd in the league. Having a dual-threat quarterback helps, but Samuel can also run at times in gadget plays, so expect Washington to do what it takes to become a spoiler against an Eagles team that is 1-3 ATS in their last four.

The Eagles have gone under in six straight games. Neither team has an explosive offense and while the weather won’t be frigid, it will still be in the high 30s in the second half and receivers don’t love that type of weather. This will be a grind-it-out rock fight with one team fighting for a playoff spot and another playing for pride against an old rival.
