The Seattle Seahawks earned one of the craziest wins in franchise history Thursday night, coming back from a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Los Angeles Rams 38-37 in overtime.

Seahawks stun RamsBox score

It was one of the biggest wins in recent Seahawks history, too. Seattle improved to 12-3, which not only puts the Hawks a game ahead of the 11-4 Rams for first place in the NFC West and the top spot in the NFC, but clinches a playoff spot.

Here’s a look at the instant reactions from the voices of Seattle Sports to Thursday’s big Hawks win.

Bob Stelton – Wyman and Bob (2-7 p.m. weekdays)

I’m not really sure what I just watched! Clearly, the most improbable win in recent years, to say the least.

The Seahawks looked to be on the verge of getting blown out after Sam Darnold threw his second interception of the game. Down 30-14 in the fourth quarter, things started to turn around. The Rams went punt, punt, punt, missed field goal and punt through the rest of regulation. The Seahawks, meanwhil,e got the huge spark with the Rashid Shaheed punt return for a TD. And we know how things went from there.

Took it and TOOK OFF. @RashidShaheed

What we did see was this team show a ton of resilience and guts. They were three-for-three on two-point conversions, including the strangest conversion we’ve ever seen where what seemed to be an incomplete pass turned into two points based on it being a backwards pass and a VERY casual recovery in the end zone by Zach Charbonnet.

Bizarre backwards pass call saves Seahawks in huge win

As we sit, the Seahawks are the No. 1 seed in the NFC and have officially clinched a spot in the postseason. There is plenty of time to talk and debate about what did and didn’t work in this game, but the bottom line is this team cemented a very well used cliche: they never quit!

A classic “What am I watching?” “How the heck did that happen?” thoroughly insane, just another Seahawks game.

They have shown all year that they can rally back in games and never was it more evident than tonight where it felt like all hope was lost. The defense found a second gear and forced three straight Rams three-and-outs, keeping the game in reach for the Seahawks to use a little bit of voodoo, some big time throws, and another key special teams play to pull out the win.

Sam Darnold deserves a lot of credit for that fourth quarter and overtime, erasing two costly interceptions and the weight of history about his performance in clutch games.

3 for 3 on two-point conversions. That’s a Seahawks WIN ‼️

It will take days to fully unpack and dissect what happened tonight (that’s what all of our shows on Seattle Sports are for!), but the simple calculus is this: the Seahawks are currently atop the NFC and in prime position to have the road to the Super Bowl run through Seattle.
