Former Pittsburgh Steelers LB Myles Jack was arrested in Frisco, Texas, on Tuesday morning after police officers conducted a welfare check. Officers heard gunshots from inside a residence, and a man, later identified as Jack, broke, climbed out, and fell out of a second-story window, according to the Dallas Morning News. Jack is facing two charges, one for deadly conduct, which is a third-degree felony in Texas, as well as discharge of a firearm, which is a misdemeanor.

The Frisco Police Department issued a press release about the incident.

Authorities did not say who requested the welfare check that brought officers to the residence where Jack was.

Jack began his NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing with them from 2016-2021. Upon his release, he signed with the Steelers and spent 2022 with them before being released. Due to injuries at inside linebacker, the Steelers brought Jack back at the end of the 2023 season, and he played in three regular-season games and the team’s Wild Card Round playoff loss against the Buffalo Bills.

Jack has no prior criminal history and is currently the owner of the Allen Americans, a minor league hockey team based out of Allen, Texas, that is an affiliate of the Utah Mammoth. Jack co-owns the team with his mother, and he became the first African-American owner of a professional hockey franchise when he bought the team.

According to police, no one else was found inside the home that Jack jumped out of. It’s unclear whether he’s still in custody or if he has retained an attorney.

Prior to Jack’s NFL career, he was a two-time All-Pac 12 linebacker at UCLA, where he also played running back, mostly during his freshman season when he had 38 carries for 267 yards and seven touchdowns. He was a second-round pick by the Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft. He finished his NFL career with 634 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, 18 passes defensed and three interceptions. He had 121 total tackles and three passes defensed in 18 games with the Steelers.
