As the NFL season winds down, and teams begin to clinch their spot in the playoffs, it’s looking likely that we’ll see some UCLA Bruin representation in the playoffs. UCLA has 36 players on active rosters or on practice squads and there’s a chance that a former Bruin will even make his way to the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium early next year.
We’re referencing the playoff picture on Friday, December 19th but these spots are subject to change over the next few weeks before the playoffs kick off. As it stands currently, there’s nine Bruins set to make the playoffs, with a few more on either the practice squad or injured reserve, meaning that the Rams’ Quentin Lake and the Broncos Marcedes Lewis won’t be included. Let’s take a look at the nine.
Buffalo Bills: Alec Anderson
Alec Anderson is in his second NFL season, making five starts over 31 career games. Anderson started one game as Josh Allen’s offensive tackle this season. Anderson was with the Bruins from 2018-2021, settling in as UCLA’s right tackle.
Green Bay Packers: Sean Rhyan
Sean Rhyan was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. After not seeing much action in his first two NFL seasons, Rhyan has stepped up into a starting role the past two seasons at center. Rhyan worked alongside Anderson on the UCLA offensive line from 2019-2021 before heading to the NFL Draft.
Houston Texans: Ka’imi Fairbairn
Ka’imi Fairbairn is already in his ninth season kicking for the Houston Texans. Fairbairn has put together another solid season in 2025, hitting 33 of his 37 field goal tries and has gone 22-22 on extra points. Fairbairn became UCLA’s all-time leading scorer in 2015, when he also won the Lou Groza Award.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Matt Dickerson
Matt Dickerson has made a nice NFL career for himself after going undrafted in the 2018 Draft. Dickerson has spent time with the Titans, Chiefs, Falcons, Dolphins and now the Jaguars. Dickerson made his first start this season on the Jaguars defensive line and will have a chance to win the AFC South. Dickerson was a four year Bruin from 2014-2017.
Los Angeles Chargers: Andre James, Otito Ogbonnia
It’s fitting that the Los Angeles-based team has a pair of former Bruins. James has held the backup center position for the Chargers while Ogbonnia has been a rotational piece on their defensive line. James was a fixture on the UCLA offensive line from 2016-2018 while spending one year as a college teammate to Ogbonnia. Ogbonnia was in Westwood from 2018-2021.
Seattle Seahawks: Jake Bobo, Zach Charbonnet
The Seahawks playoff chances got a boost Thursday night with a win over the Rams, where Zach Charbonnet found the endzone. Charbonnet has split work at running back while Jake Bobo has gotten some work as a wideout. Bobo played one season with the Bruins, 2022, was with UCLA for the 2021 and the 2022 seasons.
San Francisco 49ers: Jake Brendel
Jake Brendel has been the 49ers starting center in recent seasons, so a trip to the playoffs isn’t out of the norm. Brendel is now in his eighth NFL season with the Dolphins and 49ers after spending four years as a starter with the Bruins from 2012-2015.
