It is par for the course that the 49ers added yet another name to the Week 16 injury report: Second-year wide receiver Ricky Pearsall.

Pearsall, who has been one of the young playmaking wide receivers to step up and fill Brandon Aiyuk’s void, did not practice on Thursday or Friday due to knee and ankle injuries aggravated in San Francisco’s Week 15 win over the Tennessee Titans.

General manager John Lynch spoke Thursday on KNBR’s “Murph & Markus Show” and denied any concern that Pearsall was “injury-prone.”

“I don’t think so, he had that PCL injury, I’ve had one in my career and played with guys who had them, they’re tough, they don’t go away until you have ample time to rest,” Lynch said.

Pearsall was sidelined for six games earlier in the season with a right PCL injury he suffered in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He tweaked his ankle early against Tennessee after a rough hip-drop tackle from Kevin Winston Jr. that wasn’t penalized.

John Lynch on if Ricky Pearsall is developing an injury prone reputation:

“No, I don’t think so… That (PCL) injury is tough. I’ve had one, they don’t go away until you’ve had ample time to rest. And then on the ankle, that was a tackle we’ve tried to get out of our league. He… pic.twitter.com/5PKv5w9Yhc

Lynch attributed Pearsall’s athletic durability to bad luck.

“He also had the ankle injury, and, on that tackle, I think that guy will get fined and rightly so,” Lynch said. “That’s a technique we’ve tried to get out of our league. Ricky was extremely tough and came back from that but then fell on his knee late, he’s just having one of those years.”

Lynch also clarified that Pearsall is “a huge part” of the 49ers’ offense and that he’s “doing everything he can to get back on the field.”

Pearsall’s playing status for Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts remains uncertain, and the 49ers could clinch an NFC playoff spot with a win. The team has one more practice before Monday night’s matchup in Indiana and Lynch asserted that nothing official has been set in stone.

“We’ll see for Monday night, certainly haven’t ruled it out,” Lynch said. “I can tell you he wasn’t out there yesterday, he’s working hard to try and get back out there, and we’ll see where that’s at.”
