The Washington Commanders only made one move before tomorrow’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Tight end depth was thin with Zach Ertz on IR, and Colson Yankoff dealing with an ankle injury. Washington was down to John Bates and Ben Sinnott on the active roster.

Lawrence Cager was elevated from the practice squad for the first time this season. He was an undrafted free agent in 2020, and spent the last three seasons with the Giants. Cager(6’5″, 220lbs) didn’t play in a game last year, and will get an opportunity to get some snaps tomorrow if Yankoff can’t play. Washington recently signed TE Gee Scott Jr to the practice squad, but went with Cager instead this week.

The Commanders are also thin on the defensive line, but didn’t elevate a second player for depth. DT Eddie Goldman was ruled out with a concussion, and Johnny Newton popped up on the injury report yesterday with an illness. Washington will be getting some help on the DL tomorrow with DE Drake Jackson finally being cleared for contact. This will be his first game since suffering a patellar tendon injury with the 49ers in 2023.
