KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Chiefs won’t look much like the preseason Super Bowl favorites they were billed to be in September when they suit up this Sunday.
With quarterback Patrick Mahomes placed on injured reserve on Thursday, the depleted Chiefs ruled nine other players out due to injury for their matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
The list of injured players who won’t suit up includes linebacker Leo Chenal (shoulder), cornerback Trent McDuffie (knee), tackles Jaylon Moore (knee) and Jawaan Taylor (elbow), defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi (illness) and wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton (concussions).
Cornerback Nazeeh Johnson (shoulder), and rookie tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring) each were ruled out after having their 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve opened this week.
Despite all the injured Chiefs who won’t suit up, tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones will remain the stars on the field Sunday.
Kelce said Friday he’s excited to have the chance to play three more games with this year’s team.
Kansas City remains a 3-point favorite against Tennessee. Sunday’s game kicks off at noon CT on KCTV.
