Terms & Conditions Pats’ streak finally ends
New England had won 10 straight games before falling to Buffalo 35-31 at home on Sunday. The Pats had a 21-0 lead before falling apart in the second half. Andy Borregales nailed a 36-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, giving the Patriots a 24-7 lead. Buffalo scored 21 straight points to take a 28-24 lead, and then TreVeyon Henderson helped the Pats take a 31-28 lead after a 65-yard run in the fourth quarter. But James Cook’s 11-yard TD run with 6:48 left gave the Bills a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
MVP candidate Drake Maye had a pedestrian game with 155 yards passing (14 of 23) and a pick. Henderson led the way with 148 yards rushing and two scores, while Maye added 43 yards rushing and two TDs.
Maye has had an outstanding season with 3,567 yards passing, 23 TDs and seven picks (70.9%). The wins help along with his running ability (362 yds, 4 TDs), make him even more dangerous. Henderson leads the Patriots with 773 yards rushing and seven TDs (5.4ypc). WR Stefon Diggs leads all receivers with 67 catches for 731 yards and three TDs. Defensively, New England ranks just 23rd in sacks, but they have two quality pass rushers in Harold Landry III (8.5 sacks) and K’Lavon Chaisson (6.5 sacks). Landry is listed as questionable for this game with a knee injury.
Key Injury Report for Patriots: LB Harold Landry (knee) is questionable. LB Robert Spillane (ankle) is questionable. Leads team in tackles with 97. CB Marcus Jones (knee) is questionable. Has 60 tackles and three picks. LB Christian Elliss (illness) is questionable. Second in tackles with 76. CB Carlton Davis III (hip) is questionable. Has 56 tackles. Ravens stay alive with win over Bengals
Baltimore won five straight and then dropped two straight to Cincinnati and Pittsburgh at home (where they are 3-5), before shutting out the Bengals on the road 24-0 last Sunday. The win kept the Ravens alive in the AFC North, because that’s their best way of making the playoffs. However, Pittsburgh beat Miami on Monday night to remain a game ahead of Baltimore. The Ravens’ defense held the Bengals to just 298 yards in the cold weather in Cincinnati (around zero degrees). Lamar Jackson threw just 12 passes and completed eight for 150 yards with two TDs and a pick. Derrick Henry rushed for 100 yards, while Kyle Van Noy cemented the game with an interception of Joe Burrow deep in Baltimore territory, and handed the ball back to Alohi Gillman, who brought the ball back 84 yards for a touchdown with 7:38 left in the game.
Jackson is completing 63.5% of his passes for 2,210 yards with 18 TDs and six picks in 11 games, while he’s rushed for 333 yards. He missed three games due to hamstring injuries and has missed one day of practice every week or nearly two months. At 31, Henry is still productive, rushing for 1,125 yards with 10 TDs. WR Zay Flowers leads the team with 71 catches for 959 yards.
Baltimore is fairly healthy, with third corner Chidobe Awuzie listed as questionable with a foot injury. They also lost LB Teddy Buchanan (ACL) last week for the season. He’s the second-leading tackler behind Roquan Smith with 93 stops.
Key Injuries for Ravens: LB T. Buchanan (ACL) was placed on the IR. He has 93 tackles. CB C. Awuzie (foot) is questionable. Missed practice on Thursday. Spread Pick for Patriots vs. RavensPats vs. Ravens Pick and Prediction
Baltimore really needs this game to have a shot at the playoffs with Green Bay on the road next season. The concern on the New England side is their injuries at linebacker. Buffalo ran all over the Patriots last week with Spillane out. He hasn’t played since Dec. 1 vs. the Giants. Despite all their issues up front and with Jackson playing injured, the Ravens still rank third in the league in rushing yards per game (146.2ypg). Baltimore’s run defense has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season, ranking 15th in the league (111.1ypg). New England has also played the 32nd strenght of schedule in the NFL.
Baltimore is not going to win a shootout in cold weather. They are going to attempt to run the football and control the clock so the Pats are on defense most of the way. However, as the season has progressed, the Ravens’ passing offense has gotten worse and their overall defense has gotten better. They’ve gone under on three of the last four games.
