The Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6) and Detroit Lions (8-6) meet Sunday in a Week 16 matchup at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL odds around the Steelers vs. Lions odds and make our expert NFL picks and predictions for the best bets.

The Steelers lead the all-time series 17-14-2. The last time these teams met was Nov. 14, 2021, the teams tied 16-16 at Acrisure Stadium. Pittsburgh is 5-0-1 SU in the past 6 meetings, and 13-2-1 SU in the past 16 meetings since 1966. The Lions last won at home against the Steelers 19-16 in 1998 in the infamous “Jerome Bettis coin flip game” in overtime.

Pittsburgh topped the Miami Dolphins 28-15 on Monday Night Football in Week 15, covering as a 3.5-point favorite as the total pushed (43) at most shops. QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 224 yards and 2 TDs, while WR DK Metcalf had 55 yards and a score. TEs Jonnu Smith and Connor Heyward had rushing scores, and it was the first time in NFL history 2 different tight ends rushed for a score in the same game.

Pittsburgh has won and covered 2 in a row since losing 26-7 at home to the Buffalo Bills in Week 13. The Steelers are just 4-4 straight up/ATS in the past 8 games, while the Under has a slight 4-3-1 edge in the span.

The Lions lost a 41-34 showdown against the LA Rams last week, failing to cover as 5.5-point underdogs as the Over (55) cashed. QB Jared Goff threw for 338 yards and 3 TDs, while WR Amon-Ra St. Brown had 13 catches for 164 yards and 2 TDs, and WR Jameson Williams posted 7 grabs for 134 yards and a score.

Detroit has dropped 3 of the past 5 games, and it is 1-4 ATS in that span. The Over has cashed in 4 straight, with the defense allowing 27+ points in each of the outings.

Lions 30, Steelers 24

The Lions (-325) will cost you in excess of 3 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward. Detroit has just been too inconsistent, too, even if you wanted to toss the Lions into a multi-leg parlay with several other teams.

The good news is that the Lions lost last week, and they haven’t lost consecutive games all season. But, they also haven’t won 2 in a row since rattling off 4 straight victories from Weeks 2 through 5.

PASS.

The STEELERS +7 (-110) are worth playing lightly, and they’re even more attractive if the line balloons to 7.5 or 8 before it closes.

Rodgers knows a thing or two about playing at Ford Field and ruining the dreams of the Lions. The Detroit defense has been very giving lately, and he should be able to keep the first-place Steelers within a single score.

OVER 52 (-110) is a big number, but it still might not be high enough.

Again, the Lions have allowed 41, 30, 31 and 27 in the past 4 games, cashing the Over in 4 in a row, and 6 of the past 8 games since Week 9.

For the Steelers, officially, the Over is 2-1-1 in the past 4 games, with the Over hitting on the road in each of the past 2 trips, while going 3-1 in the past 4 road games, and 4-2 in 6 away outings this season.
