The Dallas Cowboys are, for better or worse, one of the most-watched and most-intriguing teams in the NFL with them landing six prime time games in 2025 despite their poor record last year

The Dallas Cowboys will have six prime time games in 2025- the second-most in the NFL

Only the Kansas City Chiefs will have more prime time games than the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL in 2025, after the schedule was released this past week.

Despite having a 7-10 record in 2024 while failing to make a conference finals game since 1996, the Cowboys remain ‘America’s Team’, as one of the nation’s most beloved and hated teams after their dominance throughout the 1970’s and 90’s – with former quarterback Troy Aikman warning them on their diminishing allure.

But FOX NFL Sunday host Curt Menefee believes that the Cowboys will always be given the limelight in the league, explaining why networks so often want to host their games – stating that fans love to ‘hate-watch’ them.

Speaking to Awful Announcing, Menefee said: “Win or lose, people may say they hate it that the Cowboys are on television so much, but the reason they are is because win or lose, people watch them.

“They’re that franchise. And I don’t know if there’s another in sports that’s like that anymore. People used to talk about the Yankees, or the Lakers, and I think some of that hatred-watching has waned everywhere, except the NFL.

“I think people still watch the Cowboys to see them win or to see them lose. And it doesn’t matter what their record is.”

The Cowboys play on Thanksgiving Thursday every year as part of a long-running tradition, while they will also play on Christmas Day in 2025 – facing the Chiefs and Washington Commanders, respectively, on this dates.

Dallas will have six games shown live in the prime time slots, while the Chiefs are the only other team to have more with seven, with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce also to be playing on Christmas Day.

While the Cowboys had a strong draft class, drafting three players who Mirror US Sports projected to be first round prospects in Tyler Booker, Donovan Ezeiruaku and Shavon Revel Jr, it remains to be seen how much the team has improved.

The Cowboys will hope that a strong draft class can help turn their fortunes around in 2025

They must make big improvements on last season if they are to even make the playoffs, after going 7-10 and finishing third in their division, with the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl and the Commanders making it to the conference finals.

The Cowboys gave quarterback Dak Prescott a huge extension last offseason, going on to struggle before suffering a season-ending injury.

Dallas is projected to win eight games this season, with their win/loss record set at 7.5 by oddsmakers, in what will be the first season under first-time head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
